The job's straight forward and you'll need to following items to upgrade your stereo:
1: Peugeot 307 stereo removal keys to get the stock stereo out - the PC5-83 release keys make the job dead easy. 2: A wiring harness to convert your car's current connection to a standard stereo ISO connector - for this you'll need a PC2-32-4. 3: An aerial adaptor to convert the standard aerial plug to DIN format - PC5-27. 4: A junior hacksaw (or other very fine toothed saw - this is the only scary part to this tutorial... Take your time and it'll go fine!) 5: A new head unit. 6: Patience, a cup of tea and some cake.

First of all we need to remove the stereo from the 307. Insert the Peugeot 307 release keys carefully into the corresponding slots in the head unit being careful not to scratch the bezel.
Push them firmly into position - this took a bit of a 'wiggle' to make sure! The 307 release keys don't need to be pushed all the way in. You can in fact push them too far in - you can feel/hear them when they reach the right part of the catch.
Once the Peugeot 307 removal keys are both in place, pull the tops of the release keys away from each other (towards the doors) with even pressure, and then whilst maintaining this effort pull towards you to remove the 307's stereo.
Once you've pulled the stereo out a couple of inches, hold the stereo instead of the keys so you don't accidently drop it.
Wiggle the release keys free at this point - take care once again not to scratch the bezel with the release keys if they fly out.
Once the 307 release keys are safely out of the way, pull the old stereo out until you have access to the plugs connected to the back of the stereo.
Once you've removed the stereo you'll need to unplug the cables attached to it.
First of all disconnect the block at the back left of the radio - these are held in place by a little clip on each connector. Pinch the catch of each connector block to release the clip and remove.
Once these are removed, pull the stereo out a little further and pop the aerial lead off.
Repeat the previous and this step for the CD changer if your 307 has one.
Next we wanted to make sure when the car's ignition was switched on, the stereo would come on, and switch off when the car's ignition was off.
As you can see in the second picture, the ISO cable has a free wire - which is supposed to carry this all important ignition signal to the stereo...
In order to connect an ignition signal to your stereo, it's very important to get it right the first time.
Luckily for you tutorial readers, Demon Audio has risked life and limb to tell you which wire you need to splice!
It's best to make the modification to the ISO lead rather than any of the stereo's or vehicle's wiring
The first image shows which wire you need to splice on the supplied ISO lead - the orange wire next to black. We could make some jokes about which wire to cut but we'll be here all day.
Cut the orange wire on the ISO - pare back the shealth and twist the wire ends so they don't fray.
Take a connector block or similar and attach one orange to one end and one orange plus the red cable to the other as pictured.
You shouldn't have your ISO plugged in, but if you do remove it before the next step.
Ignition sorted.
Here's the scary bit - in order to fit a double DIN head unit, we need to get rid of the bar. If you're fitting a single DIN unit it can stay and you can use a pocket in the lower slot if you like.
We VERY carefully used a hacksaw with very fine teeth to remove the bar. Ask someone to hold the bar steady so when you've nearly completed your cut you can saw very gently and slowly so the blade doesn't fly up with your upward pressure.
Insert the metal cage which came with your stereo - it'll be a tight fit.
Once the cage is in place have a look at where you can push out the grips. Use a screwdriver and push them out carefully as shown.
These bent teeth in the cage will hold the stereo securely in place.
Attach the PC5-27 and modified PC2-32-4.
Fit any other cabling you require (iPod leads etc).
Connect the ISO lead to your stereo's input lead and attach the aerial adaptor.
We were also wiring up a hands free microhone here, so if you have any extra leads don't forget to connect them.
The stereo's all connected up now - carefully slide it into place.
This Pioneer model needed screws to secure it in place - all eight of them!
All that remained was to pop the finishing trim onto the stereo and give it a blast!
The new stereo sounded great - another happy customer!
