It's good to see we don't need any radio removal keys to get the stereo out.
Instead there are some screws securing the stereo in place.
There are 4 in total - the two above the stereo are first to go.
Next open up the cigarette tray - remove the screw to the left and right of the tray.
Remove the tray itself by pressing the metal lid down and pull the whole tray forward and out.
Using a Bojo trim removal tool or your careful hands, pull the dashboard panel out starting from the bottom.
The top of the dash panel is easily removed by the Bojo hook tool - or again by hand. Make sure you apply even pressure and take extra care on this step.
There are some wires attached to the controls at the top of the removed panel.
The easiest thing to do is to have an extra pair of hands to hold it up... failing that you could always ask someone!
Once this is out of the way you can get to the stereo - the panel will be back in place after a couple of steps so it's not worth the time unclipping it all.
Remove the screws securing the stereo in place.
I expect there should be 2 on each side of the stereo but this one only had 1 in each side... I suppose you always have a few bits left over after a bit of DIY?!
Once these are out you can carefully remove the Micra's stereo.
Remove the leads at the back of the stereo.
The connector blocks are removed by pinching the catches and gently pulling them out and the aerial just pops gently off.
Now the stereo is out of the way, attach the ISO lead and Aerial adaptor as shown.
The two blocks of the ISO lead will only go on one way so there's no need to worry about which one's which - Autoleads' has thought of everything!
Carefully pop the panel back into place - start from the top and work down until all the clips have clicked happily into place.
Fit the stereo cage (comes with a new stereo) is a very tight fit - work it carefully into place.
Bend the teeth in the cage outwards using a screwdriver. This lets the cage grip against the plastic trim and hold the stereo firmly in place.
We're now ready for the new aftermarket stereo.
Taking the new stereo, attach the ISO and the aerial leads together as pictured.
Push the stereo back ensuring the cables are not going to get trapped in the process. There's plenty of space behind the stereo so the cables should drop nicely out of the way as the stereo is pushed in.
Once it's clicked happily into place, fit any extra trim that came with your stereo.
Turn the ignition on and give you new Micra stereo a blast!
Finished!
We think fitting a new stereo in a Micra was really easy - anyone could do this themselves. Our discount bundle should help to save you a few more pennies along the way too!
Good luck!
