Thank you,
If your Colt is the 05-08 model, we have a fitting guide for you too: How to upgrade an '05 to '08 Mitsubishi Colt stereo
To remove the Mitsubishi Colt factory stereo, use the radio removal keys by inserting them firmly into the two sets of horizontal slots (located a few cm in from each edge of the front panel of the radio).
You'll need 2 keys in total to remove the stereo. Push both keys all the way in until you feel them click slightly in place. The first picture shows the removal slots - you need PC5-73 release keys for this unit!
Remove the Mitsubishi Colt stereo by gently pulling on both radio release keys.
I found the unit came out really easily the first time and with hardly any pressure needed - just an initial firm pull and it came away in my hands.
Bring the unit slightly forward so it is just over the edge - you can now press in the tab on the stalk control lead (the squarer white one) and the main radio lead.
The aerial lead at the right hand edge can also be pulled out easily at this stage. Just leave the three leads dangling over the edge and your stereo is free!
That's how easy it is to remove a Colt Stereo!
Prepare for fitting your new replacement head unit! First fit the metal cage that comes with your new stereo into the gap left. This was a snug fit for me and went in easily and securely.
Next, prepare the interface leads and plug everything in following the instruction leads in the packs.
Remember to plug in the head unit specific adapter (JVC brand in my case) in to the stalk control box, before powering the box up.
Plug in all the audio adapter harness leads and program the stalk controller according to the supplied instruction sheet.
The use of tape is entirely optional and not required but it gave me piece of mind taping up the stalk box a touch on its outside edge. Just in case it made contact with any metal when dangling down the back.
If you find that your radio is losing its settings when your remove your ignition key, take a look at the red and yellow leads on your ISO connector. Mine was reused from my last car and the installer guy had swapped them over! They just snap unclipped and I had that problem fixed in about 5 seconds.
Once you have verified the programming and have your stalk control steering controls working, it is time for final fitting.
Now that you have verified everything is working, it is time for final fit and finish.
If your head unit comes with a small clip on front bevel panel, fit it first to your head unit. You can then fit the new fascia panel around it. I found it a good secure fit - I tilted it back a bit and fitted in the top edge first. I then pushed it home from the bottom, at the end pushing up the plastic below it.
The end result looks great and sounds a lot better than the factory unit ever did!
Everything I needed was supplied in the Demon Audio kit - no wires to cut or crimp! Job Done. Time for a cup of tea whilst I program in all the radio settings!
